What is Polyride Fe and Polyride Fe® Ultra indicated for?

Polyride Fe® helps prevent iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia. Polyride Fe Ultra® helps prevent iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia as well as prevents vitamin B12 and vitamin C deficiency.

What are the formulations of Polyride Fe® and Polyride Fe Ultra® and how are they different?
Polyride Fe®

Each vegetarian capsule contains:

  • 350 mg of polysaccharide iron complex (equivalent to 150 mg elemental iron – the actual iron available for absorption).
Polyride Fe Ultra®

Each vegetarian capsule contains:

  • 350 mg of polysaccharide iron complex (equivalent to 150 mg elemental iron – the actual iron available for absorption)
  • 1,000 mcg of vitamin B12 for diets deficient in vitamin B12 particularly in vegans or vegetarians, the elderly and for patients with gastric atrophy who malabsorb vitamin B12
  • 125 mg of vitamin C to enhance iron absorption and prevent vitamin C deficiency

Both Polyride Fe and Polyride Fe Ultra are polysaccharide iron complex with high tolerability and low stomach discomfort.

Polyride Fe® & Polyride Fe Ultra®

Take one capsule once daily or as recommended by your health care provider.

If I miss a dose, should I take two doses at the same time?

If you miss a dose of Polyride Fe®, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Can you take Polyride Fe® if you are pregnant or breast-feeding?

It is recommended that you consult a healthcare practitioner before taking Polyride Fe® if you are pregnant or nursing.

Can Polyride Fe® be given to children?

Polyride Fe® is not recommended for children. Consult your health care practitioner for use in children.

Can Polyride Fe® capsules be opened and dissolved in water or sprinkled on food?

No, it is not recommended you open the capsule and take the contents. 

Are there any side effects and any cautions/warnings?

Do not use

  • except under the care of a physician

  • for prolonged time unless instructed by physician

  • if seal under cap is broken or missing.

Consult your healthcare provider prior to use

  • if you are pregnant or nursing,

  • have a medical condition, or when taking medication

  • have peptic ulcer, regional enteritis and/or uclerative colitis.

Some people may experience constipation, diarrhea, and/or vomiting. Discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider if you experience symptoms of iron toxicity such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, hematemesis (vomiting of blood), and diarrhea. STORE OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. There is enough drug in the package to seriously harm a child if ingested.

Is Polyride Fe® safe to use for diabetics?

Polyride Fe® should be taken few hours before or after taking other medication. Please consult healthcare practitioner for use with diabetes.

Are there any medical conditions that would be affected by the use of Polyride Fe®?

Oral iron supplements should not be used in conditions associated with iron overload such as hemochromatosis, hemolytic anemia and during active sepsis.

Is Polyride Fe® safe to use with diabetes?

Polyride Fe® should be taken few hours before or after taking other medication. Please consult healthcare practitioner for use with diabetes.

How should Polyride Fe® be stored?

Polyride Fe® should be stored in a cool, dry place. Keep out of reach of children, as as there is enough in the bottle to harm a child if ingested. Store between 15°C and 30°C.

Is Polyride Fe® gluten free?

Yes, both Polyride Fe® and Polyride Fe® Ultra are gluten free.

Is Polyride Fe® Kosher certified?

Yes, both Polyride Fe® and Polyride Fe Ultra® are Kosher certified.

Does Polyride Fe® contain any food colouring or dyes?

Polyride Fe® contains the following: FD & C Blue # 1, FD & C Red # 40 and FD & C Yellow # 6

Can Polyride Fe® be taken after the expiration date?

It is best to avoid taking any expired medication as stability is only guaranteed to the date.

Are Polyride Fe® and Polyride Fe® Ultra vegan?

Both products are vegan friendly. They are not made with any animal byproducts. The capsule is vegetable based. They are also VegeCert certified.
